Peter Worstell's

 2009 Invitational

* The 2008 CALIFORNIA GOLD invitational proved to be extremely successful. When college head coaches such as Jeff Tambroni from Cornell University say to “expect twice as many coaches for 2009” and others like John Danowski from Duke University tell me to “include him for the next 10 years”, you know CALIFORNIA GOLD had a very positive impact. Congratulations to all the players for their effort and performance. Many of California’s best players were recruited from this event. After seeing the level of recruiting exposure attained at CALIFORNIA GOLD, an invitation to this event should be the goal of every top player in our state.

* 2009 CALIFORNIA GOLD will be sponsored by NIKE!!!! What a tremendous privilege it is to align with such a powerful and professional brand like Nike. They are sure to add tremendous value to CALIFORNIA GOLD and all those who participate.

* NEW TRYOUT FORMAT FOR 2009: An invitation to CALIFORNIA GOLD for 2009 will be more difficult to attain. The purpose of this new format is to continually raise the bar of talent participating in CALIFORNIA GOLD. That way, the value and quality of this event for both coaches and players will remain at a very high level.

California players will now earn an invitation to CALIFORNIA GOLD through a tryout. There will be one day of tryouts for Southern California players and one day for Northern California players. You can only attend one tryout. There is a $25 registration fee for players who tryout. All players must still be recommended by a coach to tryout. You will be asked during the registration process the name and contact information of that coach.

* 2009 TRYOUT DATES: (For ‘CALIFORNIA” players only)

- SoCal players on January 24th  2009 at La Costa Canyon High School. 9:00am –  4:00pm. More details regarding format as we get closer.

- Norcal players on January 25th  2009 at San Ramon Valley High School. 9:00am – 4:00pm. More details regarding format as we get closer.

* It is imperative that each and every player recommended by a coach register to tryout. Despite any potential conflict with the tryout date, you still MUST register. This includes all recommended players participating in another sport. Registered players not able to attend tryouts will be put into the “alternate” category. This category will be reviewed and considered before any final invitations go out. Final invitations to CALIFORNIA GOLD will go out within a few weeks after tryouts. At that time, those players will be asked to officially go on line and register for the event.
